Hometown is YVI's first single of his debutalbum 'A Few Words Of Comfort', to be released on the 11th of April 2019. ‘Hometown’ takes you back in time. To when you first met your best friends in high school. To leaving your hometown for university. To leaving your childhood friends for meeting new people, desperately trying to find that same friendship, driven by nostalgia.

On the roof of a primary school
We would listen to dEUS and Tool
our hoods covered our heads

We had girlfriends and we were all cool
We neglected our homework and rules
Our characters we bred, our natures we fed

In our hometown
We walked all the streets
Of our hometown
We lit our first cigarettes and smoke would spread
over our hometown
Our hometown

In the garden a feast was prepared
to celebrate a triumph we shared
A new phase commenced, kept in suspense

We would listen to dEUS and Tool
Promised each other ‘distance will not overrule’
The friendship that we grew, the love that we clung to

In our hometown
We walked all the streets
Of our hometown
We packed our bags, kissed our mothers goodbye
Left our hometown
We lost our hometown
We lost our hometown
We broke our vow
Us lay rest in our hometown

Alone or backed by his band, YVI sets aside ego, leaving nothing but pure, disarming honesty. YVI writes melancholic, though comforting storytelling songs about insecurity, doubt and grief. His voice and songs might sound like Damien Rice and Glen Hansard, whereas the band arrangements are inspired by the sound of Bon Iver and Elbow. On April 12th 2019, YVI released his debutalbum. ... more
